home again

Just got back from the first ever Fraternity and Sorority Archives Conference in Urbana- Champaign Illinois. It was very interesting! I also was able to visit Monmouth, Illlinois, where Kappa was founded. That was even more incredible. Monmouth is such a tiny town, but it has a college  and tons of little “claims to fame.”

I visited Wyatt Earp’s birthplace and  Ronald Reagan’s second grade home, walked around the campus, saw the house where Pi Beta Phi was founded, and went to a pub called Crappy’s (In a neighboring city). I also visited the grave of Norma Jean, a circus elephant who was struck by lightning while chained to a tree. The circus couldn’t move her, so they just dug a pit beside her and rolled her in. Poor thing, Norma Jean.

It was such an interesting trip.
